Los Tres Amigos was formed in 2010 by a group of seasoned musicians with diverse backgrounds from jazz, latin salsa-merengue, and rock and have evolved into this unique trio performing variety music from classic Mexican mariachi, rancheras, ballads, boleros, and latin rock, providing a lively presence. This Alabama based trio provides modern upbeat variety festive music entertaining clients from Indianapolis to New Orleans including Birmingham, Huntsville, Nashville, Atlanta, and Memphis areas since 2010, and even playing for Bonnaroo 2016 in Manchester TN. They specialize in performing for festivals, backyard fiestas, wedding receptions, birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, Hispanic Heritage Month, corporate, university and school functions. They’ve also performed for Cinco De Mayo in the major hubs and Nashville, Birmingham, and Huntsville since 2014. Their music is composed of Mexican, Latin-jazz, salsa and merengue grooves, some standards, pop, and tropical, all in the styles of Latin-mariachi. They sing in English, Spanish, and some Portuguese.
Prior clients include NASA, Northrop Grumman, Direct TV, Mississippi State, Cullman & UAB & Chattanooga Children's hospitals, Southern Adventist University, Oakwood College, UAH, Snead St, Rivers & Spires Festival (Clarksville TN), Panoply, breweries, clubs, church events, weddings & receptions & proposals, Cinco De Mayo, nursing homes, Forrest Gump author Winston Groom, and even for a Nashville recording artist named Easton Corbin and provided background for a rising pop artist video from LA named Sheridan.
The current band member amigos include Luis Trevino on trumpet and vocals with some ukulele, Elvis Vasquez (replace Mr. Roberto Valentine in 2019) and Mike McAlister (aka Miguel), both on strings. Elvis contributes his guitar skills including vocals to the Los Tres Amigos ensemble. Roberto was Elvis' guitar teacher since the age of 12. Roberto holds a degree in music performance from the University of Alabama in Huntsville AL and was the guitar professor of music at The University of North Alabama in Florence AL (over 20 years) and at Snead State in Boaz AL. Miguel has been contributing his unique bass guitar skills to our group using his knowledge from his apprenticeship from Roberto and his experiences in playing in popular bands and teaching music including at Athens State College in Alabama. Los Tres Amigos are truly a unique ensemble providing lively energetic music from various genres of music for this unique ALABAMA homegrown flavor of Mariachi Music. When required we bring in drummer Jesus Galvan. Jesus performed across Mexico in a rock band. He also performed with The Latin Rhythms Band from 2000 through 2009 with Luis Trevino.
