I was asked today, how this all started? Did I go to school for this, was I always a good baker?
I honestly had no idea I had this hidden talent. I am a decent cook, can bake some good cookies, but I had never tried to bake cakes or cheesecakes.
I have a commitment at a meeting and the normal thing was to purchase cakes, but there was a request for a German chocolate cake and instead of buying one, I mentioned I would try and bake it. Needless to say, that is where this all started.
The cake pictured below is what made me realize I had this talent. I grabbed a recipe off pinterest and just went for it, I'd never made chocolate buttercream frosting from scratch, never made a chocolate cake from scratch, and the coconut/nut layer, definitely not, but I said I would bake it, and I surely wasn't going to not do it. I'd never iced a cake or used the pastry bags that I had, but I did it.
People were blown away that I had baked it, I was blown away. The cake was moist and full of flavor. Everything was incredible and soon people were asking me to bake other items, cheesecakes, scones, cupcakes, flan, tres leches. It continues today. I love to bake, I've had zero training but would love to take this to the next level.
I appreciate all the love and support I've received over the past few months. I am honored to bake for all of your special occasions. I love being challenged with new ideas or things to try. I really appreciate all of your feedback.
